Portrait Session - Eldona

We all want to be surrounded by those we love, but we don’t always have the opportunity to see each other as often as we would like, or to share with one another the most meaningful parts of our lives. One of my favorite ways to bring people together is through photography. You can have your family and friends come together in celebration of what you love most – each other. This past summer I got to catch up with my sister in-law here in Edmonton Alberta, while creating these beautiful portraits. We brought my 6 year old daughter along for the adventure (I will share her photos in another post) and spent the afternoon laughing, creating art and most importantly making memories.

In all honestly I wasn’t too sure what to expect bringing the 6 year old along, she can be a wildcard, but we put her to work and she enjoyed every minute of it. The location we shot at requires a bit of a trek down an abandoned road but let me tell you it is worth the effort required including the walk back up. It is quiet and full of wildflowers. The weather was warm and the smoke from the BC wildfires diffused the bright afternoon sun.

Boho Photo Session, Edmonton Portrait Photography,

Eldona and I have been creating portraits together for quite a few years now and it is one of my favorite ways to spend time with her. Not only is she absolutely stunning but she kills it in front of the camera EVERY. TIME. I am not going to lie I was super sad when her and my brother moved to BC but, they are back in Alberta and we get to spend so much more time together now!

I edited these images a couple of different ways and ultimately settled on these tones. I wanted to drench all of these images in heavy grain but held back and opted for something a little more subtle. I love how these photos turned out!

We wrapped up our adventure with a very labour intensive walk back up the road to the car and, if I remember correctly, may have included Eldona having to piggyback a certain 6 year old up the very long incline.

For many people, creating art is a private passion that we keep to ourselves but, there is something extra special about creating WITH loved ones. I feel so incredibly lucky to be able to share my passion of photography with those close to me which not only gives us an excuse to hangout more but, also allows us to create meaningful art and memories.
